As a designer it's great taking on passion projects from time to time. I had been going to Big Al's for awhile and noticed he was overdue for a rebrand. His passion for cooking is addictive and he really enjoys providing great food and a great experience for his customers. It reminded me of getting a nice home-cooked breakfast or lunch at home. It's located in Nashville in the Germantown area.
Go check him out when/if you're in town, it gets pretty busy on the weekends for brunch. he's on the grid and online...

typography
Interstate-Bold
Primary typeface used for branding, identity and packaging elements. I was inspired by the existing signage that was already on Big Al's building and used it to choose the this typeface. Lastly, using a recognizable Humanist typeface felt like the right move to keep his brand approachable and familiar. He knows my order every time I come in.
